Workvivo supports user provisioning from a file import, from SCIM, or a combination of both file and SCIM. Below you will find more details on changing provisioning methods. If you are looking to add on a new provisioning source to have both file and SCIM or multiple files/SCIM tenants please reach out to Workvivo Support for additional information on this process.
Whether you are changing from full file to full SCIM or adding on an extra provisioning source, we do recommend connecting with a technical consultant on the Workvivo team.
You'll want to keep in mind a few key details below.
Email Addresses:
Email addresses must stay the same. If the email addresses will be different on the new source from what they currently are in Workvivo, the Workvivo team can help you update these in bulk ahead of the switch over.
If an email address does not match exactly, a new account will be created.
Team Names:
Team names must stay exactly the same. For example, if you currently use the team name HR but in your new provisioning source it will say Human Resources, the name will need to be updated before the file runs in to say Human Resources to prevent any loss of data.
Team names are linked to shoutouts, audiences for documents/apps, and auto enrollment for spaces. If a team name does not match as it currently exists in Workvivo, a new team will be updated and the old team will be removed due to no users being attached to the team.
If a team name does not match exactly as an existing team name, a new team will be created.
Steps for changing provisioning sources:
- Connect with Workvivo Team as this is done simultaneously with both parties

Confirm team names and emails are correct moving forward
- If updates will need to be made to team names or email addresses, connect with Workvivo Team to get this completed prior to your new provisioning source is added in.
- Pause your SCIM provisioning if applicable , Workvivo can pause automatic file imports
- Workvivo team will clear down ExternalIDs → Workvivo will look to match based on email address
- Provision a user or two on demand or run a file import with 1 or two users.
- Confirm all looks ok, start SCIM provisioning or import full employee file and set up SFTP for automatic imports.
Note, if you are changing from password authentication to SSO you will want to follow the steps here for your tenant. If you are adding on SSO in addition to password authentication please connect with the Workvivo Support Team.
