Classification Tags are a new way to tag content on the Workvivo platform. They are created and managed by administrators and are most commonly used for identifying sensitive content, but are flexible enough to be used in a range of use cases.
Once a user applies a tag to a piece of content, the tag will be displayed on that content throughout the application.
What makes classification tags special is that they can have rules associated with them. For example, a rule to ensure that content tagged with the “Internal” classification cannot be shared.
Device(s): Web & Mobile
Roles / Permissions: Admins can create tags, all users can assign a tag to content.
Availability: Opt-in, please reach out to your Workvivo point-of-contact to avail of this feature.
Creating a Classification Tag
In the below examples, we have created three separate classification tags for our content:
- Internal
- Secret
- External
However, tag names are completely up to you and there is no limit to the number of tags you can add!
System Admins can add classification tags by navigating to the admin panel and selecting "Classifications" from the left hand menu. From there:
- Click the “New Classification” button
- Provide the classification with a name. This name will be displayed on content throughout the platform
- Provide a description to help users better understand the purpose of the classification
- Provide a colour to help classification tags stand out more when applied to content
- Optional: Assign sharing rules to the tag. If this is toggled to false, content with this tag will not have any sharing capabilities
- View the newly created classification tag
- Please note the ability to create a tag is restricted to admins

Adding a classification tag to a piece of content is both easy and available to all users.
