Notifications in Workvivo keep users informed about activity and updates across the platform. They provide a central place to view, manage, and act on new information - ensuring that important updates are never missed.
Notifications appear in the Notification Center (bell icon) on both web and mobile, and can also be received via push or email depending on user preferences.
Device(s): Desktop / Mobile
Roles / Permissions: All users can access the Notification Center
Notification Center
The Notification Center is the primary place where users view and manage their notifications
- On web / desktop, this is accessed via the bell icon in the top navigation bar
- On mobile, it is accessed from the bell icon labelled 'Inbox' on the bottom navigation bar
The Notification Center shows:
- A list of individual notification items
- Visual indicators for unread vs read notifications
- Controls for marking notifications as read
Note: Only the last 15 days of notifications are retained. Notifications older than this are automatically removed.
Managing Notifications
Users can manage notifications directly from the notification center. Each notification can be interacted with individually or in bulk.
Notifications remain unread until the user explicitly clicks or marks them as read. Opening the notification panel does not automatically clear unread items.
Recent enhancements to the notifications experience have been designed to make staying on top of your Workvivo activity easier, faster, and more intuitive. We've focused on reducing notification overload, improving navigation, and empowering moderators and admins to manage comment activity more efficiently

Platform Behaviour
Web & Mobile Consistency
The notification experience is aligned across web and mobile, including:
- Visual design
- Read/unread logic
- Available actions and controls
Push & Email Notifications
- Clicking a push notification or email notification does not automatically mark it as 'Read' in the Notification Center
- To mark a notification as 'Read', the user must open or action it directly from the Notification Center
This ensures consistent read/unread tracking across devices.
Retention Period
- Notifications are retained for 15 days in the Notification Center
- Notifications older than 15 days are automatically removed
