Localization on the Workvivo platform helps you have an amazing experience on Workvivo wherever you happen to be in the world!
- Anything on Workvivo that is not user-generated content e.g. labels and button text, will display in the chosen language. This is based on your browser settings on web, and on your device settings on the mobile app.
- User-generated content refers to updates, shout-outs, etc. Content also translates, but the translation process is slightly different. Check out our article on translations to learn more about on-screen translations.
- Users can also update their language via their Profile Settings. Learn more about User Language Settings.
Note: At the moment, if you have used Custom Labels for any of your section headers, we continue to show a translation for the default section header value. For example, if you have changed your News section to read 'Stories', the localized version will show a translation for 'News' rather than 'Stories'. In time we hope that the custom label will display the custom value in the original language, rather than giving an unrelated translation. 'Stories' for example, would continue to show in English as 'Stories', regardless of the user's language settings.

Localization
Desktop and mobile users can experience Workvivo in 40+ languages.
On web:
- The language displayed on Workvivo is based off of the language preferences decided by you in your Web Browser settings.
- When you use Workvivo it will refer to these settings and look at the order of your language preferences in your browser e.g. Chrome, to provide you with the best match.
- Users will automatically see all Workvivo labels in this language. Anything on Workvivo that is not user generated content will display in the chosen language.
On the mobile app:
- The language displayed on the mobile app UI is based on your device's language settings.
- Users will automatically see all Workvivo labels in this language. Anything on Workvivo that is not user generated content will display in the chosen language.
- Users can also update their language via their Profile Settings.

We also recognise the different types of English, for example, if you use English en-US you will see the American spellings where relevant, such as color instead of colour and so on.

When you are viewing Workvivo on web browser in a different language, you will see a banner that informs you that you are viewing a translated page.

How to set up your Language preferences on Chrome
Navigate to Settings in Chrome. Language settings is displayed under Advanced Settings
You can then re-order your language preferences using the 3 dots next to each language.
Make sure that the Language that you want to see in the UI is at the top of the list. e.g. If you want French, make sure that is at the top of the list. Once this is done, the platform will start to come to life in your preferred language.
If we do not support your number 1 preference we will display the next language in your list that we support.
How to set up your Mobile Device Language Settings
iOS (iPhone)
- Open Settings
- Tap General
- Tap Language & Region
- Tap iPhone Language
- Select your preferred language from the list
- Tap Change to [Language] to confirm. Your device will restart briefly to apply the new language.
Android (steps may vary by phone brand)
- Open the Settings app
- Scroll down and tap System (sometimes under General Management)
- Tap Languages & Input
- Tap Languages
- Tap Add a language, then select your preferred language
- Drag it to the top of the list to set it as the default
