How to Create a Custom Landing Page
Introduction
- A maximum of 20 Custom Landing Pages can be created in total, shared across web and mobile admin configuration
- Pages appear in a carousel in the navigation; pages 7–20 are accessible via a dropdown overflow menu
- Each page has its own layout, widget set, and audience targeting
- Pages support a drag and drop editor - in Edit mode simply click on the asset until the hand icon appears, drag and then drop
- Tabs can be also reordered by drag-and-drop
- Tabs can be disabled without deleting them (disabled tabs remain visible to admins/Spotlight Managers in a dropdown but not to end users)
HQ in Edit Mode
-
Landing page creation and editing occurs in edit mode. Click the pen (Edit) icon in the top right of the screen to enter. The user must be in edit mode to add or change tabs and widgets.
-
Add a tab. In edit mode, choose Edit tabs, click Add, then give the tab a title, an icon, and an audience (everyone, or specific team(s)). You can create up to 20 tabs and reorder them. Where tabs target different audiences, the order determines what each user sees first.HQ Edit Tabs | Add Tab
-
New tabs start deactivated. A tab you've just added is only visible to you until you activate it, so you can build it out safely before rolling it out.
-
Choose the dashboard layout for the tab (3-column grid, 2-column grid even width, 2-column grid left expanded or a standard feed with widgets on either side).
-
Add and configure widgets. Add widgets using the plus icon or the Widget Catalogue (browse or search under Discover). For each widget you can set its own audience, choose its display style where available (for example carousel or list), and drag to reposition it. Widgets can sit in the top banner/header zone or in the dashboard body below.
- Activate the tab when you're ready for its audience to see it. It is possible to activate or deactivate any tab at any time.
Side Navigation Explained
The top navigation bar (Explore | Connect | Resources | Admin) has moved to a collapsable left-side navigation panel. This provides more consistent navigation across the platform, aligns with common intranet and SaaS application patterns and further provides for a more extensible platform.

Audience Types
The following audience types are supported
- Everyone
- Specific Team(s)
Audience Targeting Explained
- Tab-level targeting: the tab is only visible to users in the defined audience
- Widget-level targeting: the widget is only visible to users in the defined audience, even if the tab itself is visible to a broader group
- Spotlight Managers can only target audiences to teams they are a member of
- Admins and Spotlight Managers can see content within widgets even if they are not in the audience (visibility for management purposes)
Audience Best Practices
- Use Everyone for universal utility content: global news, emergency notices, org-wide links
- Use Specific Teams for relevance-driven content: role-, region-, or business-unit-specific information
- Favor narrower targeting when content is useful to a subset of employees, to reduce homepage noise and improve engagement
- Consider how navigation is set up alongside landing pages — the Unrolled Mega Menu makes top-level navigation visible at all times
- The default homepage is determined by page order — users land on the first page they have access to based on audience targeting. If page #1 is targeted to a specific team, users outside that team will land on the first page they do have access to instead.
Use Cases Summary
- Departmental hubs - HR, IT, Finance, or People Ops pages with quick links and key updates.
- Campaign or event pages - Highlight company-wide initiatives, launches, or events.
- Manager or team dashboards - Combine tools, news, and resources in one place.
- Knowledge hubs - Curate essential documents, pages, and FAQs for easy access.
- Comms-led homepages - Showcase featured news, announcements, and culture stories.
Custom Landing Page versus a Space
- Space = persistent home for a community, topic, or program
- Custom Landing Page = structured front door for attention, navigation, or campaign moments
Core distinction
Example operating model (company kickoff)
- Create the Space first as the permanent destination where content and conversation will continue to live
- Activate a Custom Landing Page before and during the moment to drive visibility and action
- Scale the landing page down after the moment, while keeping the Space as the enduring source of truth
Why this model works ?
- Avoids losing important content in fast-moving feeds
- Preserves a long-term community/content home in Spaces
- Gives comms teams a clear campaign surface in Custom Landing Pages
- Helps customers move from social-only behavior to stronger intranet patterns over time
