Workvivo's Chat feature allows users to report or flag content in chat channels that they may deem inappropriate. Admins are then notified to take the appropriate action to allow or remove the content from the channel.
Allowing users to report messages on Chat is important for a number of reasons:
-
Allowing users to report inappropriate content helps maintain a safe and respectful environment by removing harmful, offensive, or abusive messages
-
It fosters trust within the platform, as users know they can rely on the system to address violations and protect them from negative experiences.
-
Reporting mechanisms assist in identifying and flagging problematic content quickly, aiding moderators in keeping the chat aligned with platform guidelines and ethical standards.

Reporting a message
On Web and Mobile, users can report a message in a chat channel, be it 1:1 or group
- This is available in the 3 dots menu located next to each message bubble
- Once "Report" is selected, the user will be provided with a modal to select the context and add in more information as to why they are reporting the message. This will be shared with the admin.
- There is also the option to report anonymously
- Once submitted, the user will be shown a toast message stating that their message was reported.
As an Admin:
Moderating/Actioning a reported message
- Once the message is reported, the Admin will get notified in app of the reported message. (Admins will also receive an email notification)
- Clicking on the notification will navigate to the "Reported Chats" menu on the Chat Admin menu.
- This tab will show all of the reported messages currently pending review and those that have been actioned.
- You can filter by status or by timestamp if required
- From here, the Admin can click on "Review" to assess the reported message
- It will show the status, date it was first reported and who sent the message
- Who reported the message will also be visible here (unless reported anon) as well as the context and message of why it was reported
- On the Content Tab, the Admin will be given more context, by seeing the message as well any messages sent before or after.
- This will allow the Admin to make an informed decision on the reported message.
- Note: Messages, Images, Videos and files are all supported here
On the Admin Management Tab, the Admin can action the reported message.
- Admins can "Allow" which will ignore the reported message and allow it to remain in the channel.
- Admins can "Delete" which will remove the reported message and allow it to remain in the channel.
- Admins can also add in optional feedback as an audit of the decision
