When used properly, hashtags are a great way to make social posts more visible and increase engagement. They can give useful context and can quickly update a group of like-minded individuals on a certain theme or topic. Hashtags tie posts from team members across the organisation into a single stream, which you can find by searching for the hashtag in Search, or by clicking on one anywhere on the platform.
Device(s): Hashtags can be added on desktop and mobile, the Trending Hashtags widget appears on desktop & Hashtags are clickable across Workvivo on web
Roles / Permissions: Every user can add a hashtag to a comment or post
How to add a Hashtag to your Posts
Include a #hashtag in your update or comment today by using the # symbol followed by any word / phrase of your choice when writing an update or comment.
Trending Hashtags
The Trending Hashtags widget appears on the right hand side of your Activity Feed on Desktop. The widget shows the Top 5 hashtags used in the last 7 days in posts & comments to Everyone, to your Team(s), or to Corporate / Public Space audiences.
Users can click on any hashtag to see the posts and comments where the hashtag was used and the activity feed will filter on that hashtag.
Note: You will only see the posts and comments if you are in the audience of that content.
Including Private Content in Trending Hashtags
By default, hashtags trending for other Teams or in Private & Hidden spaces do not appear in the Trending Hashtags widget, even if you are a member of that space.
When a setting called "Include Private Content in Trending Hashtags" is enabled for your organization's Workvivo platform, you will see the trending hashtags from Private / Hidden Spaces and Teams too.
Note: For the hashtag to appear, it needs to be posted at least once publicly.
If someone outside of the audience clicks on the hashtag from the widget, they won't see any posts return in the hashtag filter as the content is still private. They will see the message:
There's no activity to display.
Some posts with #xxxx may not be visible to you due to their audience settings.
